Hon Mun has a total area of ​​160 km2, of which 122 km2 is sea area, 38 km2 is the total area of ​​the island. The eastern of Hon Mun island, in the black rock cave has many bird make nest . With its favorable topographic and climate, Hon Mun is located close to the hot sea currents from the equator, which is suitable for the development of many tropical coral, it is very diverse and abundant.

Hon Mun is Vietnam’s first and only marine protected area, rated by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) as the first marine biodiversity area in Vietnam. At the bottom of the sea, at a depth of 10 meters, is a place of coral reefs with a variety of fish of all colors and types.

According to statistics, there are about 2,000 species of coral and marine life in the world, there are up to 1,500 in Hon Mun, which found 340 of the more than 800 species of coral hard in the world. Hon Mun is like a “living museum” about the sea creatures right in the ocean.
