The museum contains a large collection of Yersin’s equipment and letters as well as giving a description of his contributions to bacteriology and science generally. This small museum is dedicated to the scientist Dr Alexandre Yersin (1863–1943), who founded Nha Trang’s Pasteur Institute in 1895. The Swiss-born Yersin introduced rubber and quinine-producing trees to Vietnam, and discovered the rat-borne microbe that causes bubonic plague.
Highly recommended for history buffs and people familiar with Dr. Yersin and his work, the Alexandre Yersin Museum offers an interesting look back at a notable character in Vietnamese history. Entry fee is priced VND 28,000 and visitors can enjoy guided tours in French, English and Vietnamese.
